MLM stands for multi level marketing. MLM allows companies to have individual and small business owners sell
thier products for them and get paid on commission. These individuals who do the selling can also sign up others to sell the
main companies products. The individuals are incentivized to get others to sell the main companies product as they are paid for
refferalls. So, it becomes a multi level marketing schme in that people continue to refer others to sell what they are selling.
The individuals and small business owners who do the selling are paid for each sale that they close. There is no salary paid
by the companies whose product is being sold - the payouts only come when sales take place. The individuals and small business owners
can sign up other people to sell, which is called a downline. So, if you can sign up 5 people to sell the main companies product,
you would then have 5 people in your downline. And any time a sale takes place from someone's downline, both the person who made the sale
and the person who referred the person get paid. So, ideally, you can make more money if you start early and get other people
to sell the product which you have already been selling.
Often with MLM the sales people have to be an up-front fee which will go to training for the product they are selling.
Also, individuals often have to purchase the product in advance and they then go out and sell the product at a premium. By
having up front costs, the main company is often able to ensure that only serious people sign up to be a sales member.
Compensation varies based on the product that is being sold.
Success is determined by several factors. The first factor comes down to the quality of the MLM program as well
as the product being sold. So, when you analyze an MLM program you have to make sure that you will be selling a product
that will be of use to potential customers. You also want to make sure that the company you are working with is legit; so
it is smart to check with the Better Business Bureau before getting started.
MLM can work, but it can also be a waist of time and money. If you are committed to selling,
then MLM may be a successful idea for you. Also ,if you can get other quality individuals to sell the product you are selling – you will have a strong downline which can make your MLM initiative even more successful.
